Ciao, Bella!
Aug 14th 2009Books & Holidays & Inspiration & Play & Relationships & Rest

Well, my dears, I’m heading out of town. It’s been about 6 weeks since I was last at the airport and I’m (much to my surprise) starting to miss it. Weird.
Anyway, Peter and I are going to St. Louis to visit my mom and my (almost) 91-year-old grandmother, Mimi, after whom I was named (her real name, Sara Avant, not her nickname, Mimi). Then we’ll spend several days with Peter’s family on Lake George in upstate New York. It will be my second visit there–and I just love it. A quintessential summer house that used to belong to his grandparents, it sits on a small island, so everywhere you look is water….
While I so cherish connecting with all of you, I’m also greatly looking forward to some time away from the keyboard. Since the East Coast is my true homeland, I’m really longing for it’s trees and humidity! I plan to dive into a couple of books that I’ve been wanting to read (like this and this), catch some good movies (has anyone seen Julie & Julia or 500 Days of Summer?), swim, and generally be as lazy and unstructured as possible.
How are you spending the last weeks of summer?
P.S. While I’m away, some stellar women will be posting here. I know you will enjoy what they have to say, so stay tuned!
