How to Say Yes to Change

The beginnings of things are always awkward.

Whether it’s the start of a week-long retreat, the beginning of a new chapter of speaking your truth, or those uncomfortable first months after ending your marriage … you just might feel like wobbly teenager.

We all get a little wide-eyed and naive, awkward and self-doubting, at the beginning of things.

Especially when they really matter. (Like speaking up for yourself more. Taking more exquisitely good care of yourself. Or taking the leap into a your passion project.)

IN THE HEROINE’S JOURNEY, THE ARCHETYPE OF BEGINNINGS IS THE MAIDEN. AND SHE HAS SO MUCH TO TEACH US.

We can meet her awkwardness with compassion.

We can unlock the wisdom in her resistance.

We can harness the beauty of her innocence.

We can bring ease into the fiery crucible of transformation.

That’s why I gave a SHE dharma talk about the Maiden and beginning spiritual quests the first night of our recent SHE Retreat at Kripalu.

Draw yourself a luxurious bath — or curl up with a blanket and a blank page in your journal — and listen to this brief, inspiring wisdom talk.

This short SHE dharma talk includes:

  • How the archetype of the Maiden can support you in new beginnings
  • The specifically feminine flavor of resistance to answering a spiritual call (and how to work with it)
  • Beginner’s Heart: the feminine side of Beginner’s Mind
  • Identifying what your “spiritual assignment” is, right now.

This is an incredibly powerful moment to do some personal reflection and excavation. Today is a powerful New Moon in emotional Scorpio. Tomorrow is Samhain and Halloween: the halfway point of autumn, when the veils between the worlds are said to be the thinnest.

Plus, as 2016 begins to draw to a close — and the US presidential election reaches a fever pitch — many of us are drawing inward, asking: what was this year all about?? And: how can I make the most of everything that’s happened this year, especially the rough stuff?

May this dharma talk support you in every area of life you feel like an awkward beginner … and help you feel compassion towards the fits and starts and challenges you’ve survived, this year.

SARA AVANT STOVER

Hello, beautiful. I’m Sara: a teacher of feminine spiritual and empowerment, author, and founder of The Way of the Happy Woman. I’m also the leader of The SHE School and the SHE Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training. Here’s the truth: I don’t want to be your guru. But I am wholeheartedly devoted to guiding women back to their own, inner wisdom, through feminine spiritual practices, yoga, meditation, and a whole lotta love (and guts). This work is my truest calling and greatest joy. I’m so happy to have the chance to share it with you.
