What Every Woman Facing a Tough Transition Needs to Know

I spent a good chunk of the weekend laying on the couch in the living room, curled up under my favorite snow white afghan. I needed space. Quiet. Ample hours to digest life and stare out the window at the blue sky and mountains.

January proved to be an unexpectedly turbulent month– from world affairs, to news of a family member’s illness, to some big personal identity shifts. I’m remembering: even positive changes can be stressful!

Last week we also passed through the milestone of Imbolc. Here in the northern hemisphere, this marks the halfway point between winter and spring. We’re in the time of the year when the seeds deep inside the earth, like all the cells in our bodies, start to turn towards the light. Can you feel this subtle movement within you?

These seasonal touchstones offer us chances to pause and reflect. Winter–the season of hibernation, gestation, and visioning–urges us to prioritize stillness, inner listening, and patience with what feels gritty and uncomfortable. It’s hard, I know.

If this season were to whisper us all some words of encouragement, they would be: “Have faith, my sweet. This too shall pass.”

Because, even if you’re not experiencing winter geographically, you’re nose-to-nose with transition and uncertainty, I came across something that I think you’ll find helpful.

Last week we welcomed women between 26 and 65, from 14 countries, into this year’s SHE School. We’ve enjoyed introducing ourselves and sharing our intentions in our private Facebook group, and later this morning we’re stepping into our first live gathering together– a video SHE Yoga & Meditation retreat.

One of the things that I shared with this group this past week was a SHE Talk on our theme for February, “Leaving Your Normal Life.” The first step along our 9-part Heroine’s Journey, the central lesson of this month is that a woman’s initiation into greater wisdom and power begins with a crisis.

As my team was preparing this audio for our SHE School sisters, they voiced to me that the message I offer in it is so valuable and relevant for the time we’re currently living in that I should share a slice of it with all of you.

So please enjoy, as a gift from me to you, an impromptu podcast episode…..

In the clip from the first month’s talk in this year’s SHE School, you will learn:

  • How to come to terms with your fundamental aloneness and groundlessness
  • Why we need safe harbors during times of transition
  • A Tibetan prayer that offers an inspiring perspective on your suffering
  • The disposition every mature woman must take to wake up from the nightmare of addictive accomplishment and perfectionism.

May these teachings offer some salve and strength for your spirit as we step into the second half of this season together.

If you’d still like to partake in this year’s SHE School journey, it’s actually not too late for you to join us!

Every time we open the program for another round, there’s always a group of women who find out about it just after the registration closes on February 1.

Because there are so many who find out about our program at the last minute, we take a “soft close” approach to our registration period, which means that we often accept women into the program for a week or two after we officially begin.

This is for any woman who just found out about the program and is wanting to join us before we get too deep into the materials.

As long as you’ve read through the course page (right here), and you’re clear that the program is a great fit for you, you’re welcome to join us!

Our first LIVE video SHE Yoga & Meditation retreat starts in a few hours….

I can’t wait to support you through whatever transition you’re facing this year.

Here’s where to join us in The SHE School 2017.

Hello, beautiful. I’m Sara: a teacher of feminine spiritual and empowerment, author, and founder of The Way of the Happy Woman. I’m also the leader of The SHE School and the SHE Yoga & Meditation Teacher Training. Here’s the truth: I don’t want to be your guru. But I am wholeheartedly devoted to guiding women back to their own, inner wisdom, through feminine spiritual practices, yoga, meditation, and a whole lotta love (and guts). This work is my truest calling and greatest joy. I’m so happy to have the chance to share it with you.
