Nesting

Every woman needs a nest.

I’ve had nests in: Connecticut, New York City, Massachussetts, Virginia, Thailand, countless hotels and guesthouses around the world, my suitcase, and now, in Boulder, Colorado. It’s quiet, beautiful, and all mine. In fact, it’s my most nest-y nest yet. And I so love it.

It has a baby blue wall in my bedroom, the most comfortable princess bed, an altar (an antique, wooden bench from  Santa Fe ), a vintage blender from our old summer cottage “Four Sisters,” celadon dishes (and much much more) from Thailand, a painting easel that I wish I used more, overflowing bookcases, very limited closest space, great views of the Flatirons, coconut wood wind chimes, and lots and lots of plant friends.

What about you? Where have you built your nest? What does it look like?

i LOVE your artist easel. i want one although i’m a terrible drawer/painter!

as for my nest, it’s an explosion of colors! my wall colors include hot pink, french purple, lemon yellow, and a soothing green. (altho lately i’ve been craving white walls!) i also have overflowing bookcases, pink bookshelves, a four poster canopy bed, and a chalkboard door. my nest is constantly changing as i love to redecorate, but it’s always home to me. :)

oh Carolyn! I love the chalkboard door idea! I’ve been wanting a chalkboard wall, but haven’t checked how the rental office would feel about it. :)

your nest sounds gorgeous, especially the plants.

mine has an art room (I turned the unused spare room into an art “studio”), furniture that I love, art from places I’ve been and my own photos, light blue bowls with blossoms for eating, colorful French blue and orange dog bowls, barn stars, light blue sheets on the bed, overflowing bookshelves, and lots of flowers. I just love it.
