Sunday Night…

Rooibos + Rice Milk Chai also awaits me...

rooibos + rice milk chai also awaits...

While it’s been a great trip back to Chiang Mai, tonight I feel tired, homesick, and nostalgic for my day-to-day life. Oh, to wake up in my own bed again!

On the top of the list of things that I miss the most are my pajama selection, boyfriend, Bio Mat, bathtub, and kombucha (not necessarily in that order).

With one week left of a four-week yoga teaching marathon, here’s where I’m finding some inspiration tonight:

  1. A beautiful, womanly, and well-written blog
  2. A quote that I found on tonight’s Twitter feed: “If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” ~ Meister Eckhart
  3. Registering for some R&R at a Yin/Yang Yoga & Meditation Retreat with Sarah Powers next month.

How about you? Where do you source inspiration when you need it?

Do tell, as I know I’m not the only one who could use it!

Nature inspires me…being out enjoying the simple beauty of a sunny day, the trees and the grass, the wind..breathing nature into every cell of my body..
    A good book…
    Genuinely accepting what is…
Learning about myself and falling in love with myself all over again..
Learning to embrace my emotions..all of them..allowing them to flow without judgement.
Letting go of what no longer serves me and others..
    Being with myself..
Speaking my truth in a kind and compasionate way…
    Signing up for a workshop..definitely..as you said…
Being genuinely innocent and watching it unfold as a witness…
    Being LOVE.

I start back at my daily yoga practice today after a long break. (Who would have thought I’d miss standing on my head!) There are many complicated prayers I need to say. Yet Thank you, is really all I need right now – so thank you for the quote, it has given me a place to begin.

    Hello Sara!

Here are some current items on my list of sources of inspiration and gratitude:

    1. A robin’s nest outside my window
    2. Watching the sunset on a beach less than two miles away from my home this past weekend (why do I take things like this for granted? Thank you for reminding me how blessed I am to live near the sea!)
    3. Rain falling during the night
    4. Yogi Tea- Bedtime
    5. It’s 4:40 am as I write this- my window open and the first sounds of birds waking up and beginning to sing “good morning!”
    6. One of my dreams that is about to come true- I am going to Kripalu for a teacher training this summer!
    7. My 84 year old Mom- teaching my niece how to make a traditional Slavic pasta by hand this weekend- 2 different generations united by the work of their hands- it was a beautiful and humbling thing to see.
    8. Now 4:50 am, the sky beginning to peek it’s face through the mask of night. Welcome!
    9. New and old photographs- looking at faces and places and making room for them to tell me about themselves
    10. A bookstore- any kind, anywhere
    11. The scent of Patchouli
    12. A cheerful welcome from my dog when I come home!
    13. The belief that my partner has in me- it seems unwavering- he believes that I can do anything!
    13. This quote that I found recently. It reminds me that in order to get to the ‘other side’, it is natural (and perhaps necessary) to experience some of the following: the poison red apple, the wolf, the wicked witch, the mirror that doesn’t tell a lie: “Every man’s life is a fairy tale written by God’s fingers” (by Hans Cristian Andersen)
    14. The freedom of choice.

What a glorious way to have started my day this morning! Thank you Sara for reminding me to stop and consider some of my sources of inspiration.
    Namaste,
    Linda

    Hi Linda,

Wow, what a great list! I am inspired just by reading….

I also did my first yoga teacher training at Kripalu; it’s so special to spend a month there immersed in study. And I *love* that Hans Cristian Andersen quote. I’m a pushover for fairy tails.

    Love,

    Sara

I love that Hans Christian Anderson quote.

nature .. graffiti or a piece of art or a photograph .. The Prophet .. the present moment, if I am sure to stop and appreciate it .. a fresh flower .. a lit candle .. watching my puppy run free ..

Lately, with a house full of guests all summer long, I’ve found space to rejuvenate in my car…I’m alone with either music or silence able to get lost in my thoughts. I went through a similar experience during the year of my divorce, when all kinds of other chaos was going on. My car was my haven – I could be alone, quiet and still.
