Chocolat
Jul 22nd 2009Inspiration & Sweets
There’s nothing like going on retreat to make you appreciate the little things in life.
After 7 days of silence, sleeping on the earth in my tent, yoga, meditation, and being fed by nature’s splendor, I hardly even noticed that there was no chocolate at my retreat. While I usually travel with my own stash (the darker the better), I used my time away to take a rest from my usual habits.

So, in my heightened appreciation for this medicinal and erotic treat, I thought I would share with you some of my favorites:
- I found the best dark chocolate elixir cafe during a road trip to Santa Fe last year. I recently learned that they take mail orders!
- I sent these to Peter for Valentine’s Day this year while I was away in China. The buddha vegan truffles, to be exact. They were all gone by the time that I came home; which I take to be a good sign.
- Some of this and this goes into my morning smoothies. Who needs coffee?
- And, of course, I’m a fan of Chocolove because they’re made with love right here in Boulder. The “raspberries in dark chocolate,” “cherries and almonds in dark chocolate,” and “crystallized ginger in dark chocolate” are especially nice. They even have a little love poem inside the wrapper.
What about you? Are you a chocolate fan? What are your favorites? Do tell. I wouldn’t want to be missing something!
