wow, the bottom picture is so much sexier. she actually looks like woman, not a girl. my stomach looks like that, and so does the rest of me. i find my body sexy because not too many women can actually say they are an hourglass. i like my belly. and i find curvier, "thicker" women to be sexier.

thanks you for your honesty, carolyn. i feel so sorry for the collective bellies of women everywhere....most of us, for most of our lives, feel this way. seems like a rite of passage into self-acceptance to love them + i only wish that young girls and teenagers can be raised in a world where they learn to love their bodies from the start.

hi sara, i practced yoga for 15 years, and gained tremendous benefit from it. after a serious spinal injury 2.5 years ago, and long, painful rehab, which is still underway, i developed very shallow breathing as a way to reduce pain. in the last 5 months my physios have had me practising diaphramatic breathing/belly breathing- a sensation i haven't felt since my injury. difficult at first, but i am so grateful to feel and see my deconditioned belly rise as my lungs fill with air, i am grateful that my abdonimal muscles support my back and are getting stronger everyday, and that all the organs inside my belly provide me with nutrients and help me heal. the human body is truly amazing, intuative and strong- we must love ourselves and be ever grateful for the gift of movement.

it's funny - most men seem to like like a lady with curves, while we women like the looks of lean and muscley. I think the one w/ boxing gloves looks like the body of a teenage boy, and the bellydancer has a marilyn monroe tummy. She is DEF the sexier of the 2 in my opinion.
I always used to like the top pic type, but now that i'm well over 30 (and so is my belly), i'm thinking the lower pic is much more attractive.

Now if they would just start making pants that flatter a woman's beautiful shape instead of all those tight waistband pants that make even the size 0 girls get muffintops....

Hmm, well the belly dancer looks like she is having fun, the boxer, not so much. My own belly has been through babies, surgeries, and a lot of living. It embarassed me for most of my life and I kept it under wraps. Now that I am older, it's not so bad. I am not up for parading it down main street, but we've been through a lot together so we're good friends.

When I was younger, I was a gym rat and it was then I was uncomfortable with my body. I took up belly dancing at fifty. My belly and I had a lot of fun.

well .. I actually think those photos are pretty similar - generally flat. :)

For me, not so much. I spent too many years hating my belly .. but then I discovered reiki last fall and, while I am not quite to the state of loving it exactly, I am at least much more tolerant. (It occurs to me that it is a good thing my body is more forgiving of me than I am of it.)

right now i do- because there's a baby in there! ask me in a few weeks and i'll probably say not so much... :) to be honest, i've always wanted one that looks like the top photo, as much as i try to accept my belly for what it truly looks like.
